On Sunday, March, 4th at noon after I took a long time for my breakfast enjoining a cup of distinctive and quite strong coffee (after that I finally got awake) I decided to try my rig in the running VHF/UHF contest. Unfortunately I don’t have any suitable antenna for 2m like 9-element Yagi or something better, I only have a standard Dimond GPA purchased for local FM chats and installed on the balcony. Anyway it’s better than nothing. I have a good view of the East side (see picture) that was right away confirmed by two QSO with OK stations and ODX about 215 km. I got a couple of QSO with stations above 100 km away, and the rest were local hams. Altogether 31 QSOs were well done! And what about the rig? The rig is definitely rubbish for VHF/UHF contests but still enough for weekend pleasure.
A couple of hours later I was in a good mood again contesting in SSB for ARRL SSB 2007: 73 QSOs on 20m band plus 2 QSOs on 40m were done; 30 states and provinces were gained. Highlights were AZ in
